Our Staff

CCCOC’s professional staff are made up of a culturally and ethnically diverse group of Master’s and Doctoral level therapists who are committed to offering high-quality counseling services. While we each operate from a solid Christian perspective, we are also respectful and sensitive to clients’ varying beliefs and worldviews. All therapists have experience and expertise in working with a wide variety of clinical settings, client concerns and spiritual, cultural, ethnic and diversity issues.

Each therapist also has training and expertise in dealing with depression, anxiety, loneliness, singleness, life transitions, relationship concerns, and traditionally underserved populations. As a whole, the therapists at the Center provide individual, couples and family therapy, consulting, seminars and assessments.

All interested parties are directed to our main phone number 1-312-573-8860, and the intake coordinators match the appropriate therapist with the client’s needs and desires. The following list provides an idea of the therapist you may be working with.

Susy Francis, Psy.D, MBA – Executive Director, Psychologist

Image floating on the leftDr. Francis did her undergraduate studies at Wheaton College (IL) and earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Francis is a bi-lingual (Spanish) therapist who has had a broad background in counseling, trainings and workshops, assessments and evaluations, program development, and working with diverse populations as far as language, age, culture, ethnicity, gender and religion in outpatient and inpatient settings. Dr. Francis' goal is to assist each person in experiencing life as meaningfully as Christ would have them to. Dr. Francis also seeks to bring healing to the body of Christ through psychotherapy, assessments and professional trainings. Dr. Francis is also an adjunct faculty at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and is a Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago.

Eva Ponder, PsyD, LCSW – Clinical Director

Eva

Dr. Ponder has experience working with individuals and couples and families. While she has a broad range of clinical experience, she is especially interested in working with clients recovering from traumas, dealing with boundary and relationship issues, and parenting issues. She also provides marital and pre-marital therapy, and is certified in the Prepare Enrich and Marriage LINKS curriculums.

Dr. Ponder has been working with cases of trauma for over 15 years. She is trained in EMDR, a specific trauma treatment preferred by organizations like the Veterans Administration for treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She incorporates EMDR into her work with individuals affected by PTSD and other severe traumas.

Dr. Ponder has a special interest in empowering church leaders to be effective in their ministry. She is active at her church, Family Christian Center in Munster, Indiana where her husband John serves as a pastor. In her free time, Dr. Ponder enjoys traveling, reading, and snuggling with her cats.

George Ball, MA – Therapist

George Ball

George approaches therapy as a meaningful relationship, through which people can be empowered to reach their goals. He has extensive background working with children and adolescents and enjoys incorporating the creative arts into his work with young people.

George has special interest in family dynamics and enjoys exploring family histories with is clients. His research is around integrating religious faith into marriage. He currently works with couples by providing marital and pre-marital therapy.

George is also interested in working with military populations, specifically, veterans and military families. He has worked individually and in a group setting with recently returned veterans, supporting them through the process of integrating back into their social and familial circles.

George is in the doctoral program at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He enjoys wandering the streets of Chicago, taking in the sights and sounds of the city, though, his favorite walks end at Sushi restaurants.

Maggie Bishay, PsyD, LCP – Therapist

Dr. Bishay desires to be an enduring source of support by standing with her clients until they grow to achieve their full potential. She has broad clinical expertise, but has special interest in working with clients on issues like trauma, addictions, domestic violence, depression, parental issues, and life choices. Dr. Bishay’s research focuses on the effects of bi-culturalism in immigrant families. She enjoys working with immigrant populations, focusing on helping families adapt to new cultural norms and habits.

Dr. Bishay has special expertise in working with couples, and offers marital and pre-marital counseling. She is certified in a variety of relationship building curriculums including Marriage LINKS and Prepare and Enrich. She frequently leads workshops for couples that focusing on creating healthy relationship habits, and has partnered with a church in St. Croix, Virgin Islands to lead the training internationally.

Dr. Bishay provides bilingual counseling in Arabic. She is a graduate of Argosy University in Chicago. She is active in her church and enjoys spending time with her family.

Casey Clardy, MA, MDiv – Therapist

Casey Clardy

Casey’s clinical passion is to be an agent of transformation in the lives of individuals, families, and organizations. She has worked in settings from community clinics to mega-churches with clients who range from young children to adults. Casey developed a special interest in cross-cultural therapy while working with youth and adults in inner-city Los Angeles. She worked extensively with issues of depression, severe anxieties, and substance abuse, within a diverse and urban context and led support groups for immigrant populations.

Casey has special interest in serving the church and integrating theology into professional psychology. She enjoys working alongside church leaders has provided consultations to churches that on topics like team cohesion, ministry burnout, and ministry strategy. Casey’s research centers on spiritual development in youth from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and faiths. She has particular interest in working with youth and families. She provides bilingual therapy in Spanish.

Casey is a doctoral student at Fuller Theological Seminary, where she also earned a Masters of Divinity. In her free time, Casey enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, and reading.

Juliana Cruz – Therapist

Juliana Cruz

Juliana brings extensive experience working with culturally diverse populations. She is passionate about being an active presence in her community, and has a particular interest in working with minority populations. Her primary expertise is working with children and adolescents, both individually, and in group setting. She values artistic expression and uses play and art therapy in her work with young children as a safe way to express emotions.

Juliana has specific interest in working with clients who struggle with acute anxiety disorders, including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Juliana is a student at Roosevelt University working towards her Masters in Clinical Psychology. She is a movie buff who wishes she had more time to watch movie, and enjoys running and riding her bike along Chicago’s lakefront path.

Gina Dunckel, MA – Therapist

Gina Dunckel

Gina desires to make her clients feel heard and understood. She welcomes the opportunity to work with clients from diverse worldviews and faiths, and draws insights from her own personal journey.

Gina has special expertise in working with victims of trauma. She is trained in EMDR, a trauma treatment tool preferred by organizations like the Veterans Administration. Because of her experience with trauma, she has special interest in providing support for military veterans as well families dealing with suicide.

Gina is a student at Argosy University. She is an avid scrabble player and loves cooking and taking her dog for walks.

David Hoover, PsyD, LCPC – Therapist

David Hoover

David is passionate about helping his clients understand their uniqueness, and using their gifts to overcome their personal struggles. He specializes in long-term psychotherapy for addressing deeply engrained struggles with intimacy, identity, and patterns of relational conflict.

David has experience working with adults and adolescents in a variety of settings including hospitals, college counseling centers, community clinics, and group practices. His clinical interests and specializations include depression, addictions, trauma/abuse histories, issues of difference and diversity, spirituality, and psychological testing. Within the area of addictions, David has engaged in research, writing, and conference presentations concerning the treatment of substance abuse and sexual compulsivity.

He holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College, where he also pursued Masters-level graduate training in the provision of individual psychotherapy, marital therapy, family therapy, group counseling, and psychological testing. David uses his free time to read, watch movies, and experience new types of cuisine.

Patrick Moon, MA – Therapist

Patrick Moon

Patrick Moon seeks to come along side his clients and journey with them towards healing and wholeness. Patrick’s primary clinical experience is working with adults on issues like depression, anxiety, issues related to faith and identity, and physical and emotional abuse. He also has training to work with individuals who have experienced trauma in their lives. Patrick has a special interest in providing marital and pre-marital therapy to couples and frequently leads workshops on building healthy relationships.

Before coming to Cornerstone, Patrick pastored a church in Southern California. He decided to pursue a career in counseling after seeing the huge need for mental health resources in the church. Much of Patrick’s research focuses on helping clergy manage the stress of ministry and be effective leaders in their church. He currently serves as a ministry consultant to a pastoral staff in Chicago.

Patrick is a graduate of Wheaton College. Patrick enjoys testing his physical limits by running marathons and triathalons.

Jennifer Simmons, MA – Therapist

JenJen applies a holistic definition of healing and health to therapy, helping her clients find physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. Ms. Simmons has experience working with adult clients of all ages, as well as children with personality disorders, and is very interested in the benefits of group therapy. Her special expertise covers areas like anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, health related issues, and relationship issues. Ms. Simmons attends Argosy University in Chicago.

Su Li Lee, M.S, M.S.c – Therapist

Su Li

Su Li Lee, MA M.S., M.Sc. (Dist.) Ms. Lee has worked with individuals and families on three continents in a variety of settings. She began her career providing in-the-moment interventions in crisis situations. From that experience, she developed a special interest in helping clients overcome traumas, severe depression, and mood anxiety disorders.

Su Li has extensive experience working with children and adolescents, including children adolescents with Pervasive Ddevelopmental Ddisabilities. Su Li has worked with several community organizations providing one-on-one and group therapy to adolescents and adults with autism, focusing on practical life and social skills.

Ms. Lee enjoys working with families, particularly those with young children, to help empower parents to positively shape their child’s behaviors. She often incorporates expressive arts play into her work with young children. She also has done extensive research on the subject of relationships attachment and employs that knowledge in her work both with individuals and couples.

Su Li is tri-lingual in Mandarin Chinese and Malay. She is currently in her final year of the doctoral program at the Institute for the Psychological Studies Sciences in VA. In her free time, she enjoys riding her bike on Chicago’s lake front path, reading, marveling at traditional church architecture in Chicagoland and exploring the great outdoors.

Tracey Kurian, MA – Therapist

Tracey Kurian

Ms. Kurian strives to bring healing and a renewed sense of hope into the lives of her clients. She began her career helping children with autism learn basic social skills, and maintains an interest in working with individuals with developmental disorders. She also had the unique experience of working in a community health center with victims of domestic violence from a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Ms. Kurian works with individuals, couples, and families, with a special interest in martial and pre-marital therapy. Much of her research focuses on the topic of marriage within a church setting and desires to be a resource to local churches by helping couples build strong relationships. She is certified in the Marriage LINKS curriculum.

Ms. Kurian is in her final year of the doctoral program at the Adler School of Professional Psychology. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and would be in a different country every weekend if she could.

Francis Tung, PhD – Clinical Psychologist

Frances Tung

Dr. Tung seeks to create a safe environment for her clients and to help them make positive and meaningful choices. She enjoys working with clients of all ages on a variety of issues. She has a special interest in providing psychological assessments to children and adults for a variety of issues including attention difficulties, learning disabilities, emotional and social concerns.

Dr. Tung’s specific expertise is child and adolescent development. She specializes in helping children overcome emotional and behavioral difficulties, and offers tools for parents to set their child up for success. She has training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, which is used to help parents and their young childrenimprove communication and their relational bond. Dr. Tung is also conducts academic counseling groups that focuses on social and emotional learning in elementary schools. She is also involved in researching and evaluating the effectiveness of academic counseling groups.

Dr. Tung earned her PhD from Suffolk University. In her free time she enjoys reading, sewing, traveling, and learning new things.

Keelah Voll, MA – Therapist

Keelah

Keelah strives to assist clients in restoring and sustaining wholeness with warmth and sensitivity, and without judgment. She has clinical experience delivering evidence-based treatments to children, adolescents, adults, and families, including families of children with developmental disabilities. She particularly enjoys working with young adults on issues of identity, life transitions, depression, and anxiety.

Much of Keelah's clinical experience and research focuses on child development and she has worked directly with schools in several states. Her passion for empowering children to succeed academically and socially led her to develop a group curriculum that teaches acceptance and positive peer relationships for adolescent girls. She enjoys leading academic counseling groups for students, focusing on key areas of classroom behavior, bullying, and peer pressure. When working with children individually, Keelah utilizes her expertise in creative techniques like play therapy to facilitate expression and growth. She has received specialized training to teach parenting skills including how to successfully address conflicts with challenging children. She enjoys supporting the changing and growing individuals within a family unit through family therapy.

Ms. Voll is a graduate of Wheaton College and the University of Virginia. In her free time, she enjoys escaping the city and experiencing nature, playing basketball, and spending time with her husband.
