For over thirty years, Cornerstone Counseling Center of Chicago (CCCOC) has been an agent of healing for individuals, couples, and families. Begun in 1971 as the Near North Counseling Center, CCCOC has been an outreach ministry of LaSalle Street Church and has demonstrated a commitment to providing professional counseling services in a Christian context.
Mission and Philosophy
The Center is committed to Christ and His Kingdom. Special dedication is taken in maintaining the highest standard of professional and ethical conduct. CCCOC strives to develop a deeper understanding between the integration of faith and the human condition as related to emotional, relational, and spiritual life. The staff seeks to bring hope and healing through service to underserved individuals.
Staff Members
CCCOC currently has 13 clinical staff members, including therapists of Doctoral and Master's level. In addition, there are two primary pre-doctoral interns, two secondary pre-doctoral interns, and practicum externs. The center also has a full-time office manager who assists with all insurance billing. There is also an intake team that handles all first time contact with clients.
Training Opportunities
- Opportunity to gain 2,000 hours of diverse clinical experience for internship (practicum externship hours depend upon program
- Opportunity to provide 15-20 hours/ week of individual, family, couples or group psychotherapy
- Opportunity to create and develop outreach programs (churches and schools)
- Opportunity to consult and network with local area ministries (churches, building ministries, and community youth enrichment programs)
- Opportunity to conduct psychological assessments (children, adolescents, adults, and couples)
- Opportunity to develop and deliver psycho-educational workshops and trainings
- Opportunity to conduct intake assessments
- Conducting weekly psychosocial school based groups for students (Grade 1-12) with emotional and behavioral concerns
Additional Opportunities
- Unique assessment opportunities (learning disabilities, intelligence testing, vocational assessments, spiritual gift evaluations)
- Training in clinical administration duties (insurance billing, working with managed care, use of Therapist Helper billing program, and grant writing)
- Opportunity to write articles for the CCCOC quarterly Christian Newsletter
